Change

Another week of fun. This time spent on the garden. The empty pots in the back yard finally have flowers in them. They have been empty for at least a year. My plants in the hanging pot are hanging in there. TLC is what is needed. The spot is just too hot with over 8 hours of direct sun light and Sacramento heat.
Pulled the old daisies on the front and replaced with purple lantana and new daisies. The daisies had done well in the spot in the past. I need to add more.

Officially Moved

What a week it has been. There was too much events in the past week. It all started on Wednesday, September 17. On that day, Hannah drove alone by herself for the first time to Sac. Hubby and I was all worried that her car might fail her along the way. The car is good but old, and who knows what might happen. She called and asked if she is going the right way as soon as she took I-80 towards Reno. She made it okay. She is going away for college so she drove the car so we can keep it until she comes home and it will be available for her to use. Hubby decided we must celebrate so we went out to dinner at the Claim Jumper in Roseville. Dinner was good. Father and daughter had time together. Cannot believe she is now a college girl.

Thursday, hubby went to work. We have planned of leaving for the bay area that night but Hannah wanted to leave sooner so, one o’clock, I took her to the train station downtown. I am not used to the streets of metro Sac yet so going back home I ended going south I-99 towards Stockton instead of north or Business 80. I decided I would visit the oriental store down Mack Street.

We left for the bay area about 19:00 and it would be the last night that we will sleep in the house. When we got there, we were going to watch TV but discovered that the cable company already has turned off the cable service as well as the internet connection. It is disappointing because I emphasized I wanted the connection until Saturday. That makes you think how people does not listen to what you are saying. With disgust, we end up going to bed.

Friday morning we went out for breakfast before picking the U-Haul truck. It is the biggest truck they have, 26 footer. I asked for a 24 but we got a 26 footer instead. It took us all day to load the truck with my hubby’s systematic loading system. 21:30 we are finally done for the day. Loaded the pick up truck as well. Left the bay area with my hubby driving the U-haul truck and me following behind. We had a very late dinner at Denny’s in Vacaville, the only restaurant open at that time. We are so exhausted and sore that we did not unload the trucks and just went to sleep.

Saturday morning we got up and started unloading the truck. At one point I suggested if we can we just go and hire people @ Home Depot (there are people who hangs around home depot looking for day jobs) I just cannot take it anymore. My calves and feet are killing me. Well, my hubby being a “perfectionist” said they will not be careful and would destroy things in the process. Therefore, we (Just the two of us) unloaded the truck with all kinds of special effects in the process and at one point being knocked down the ground because of a sudden turn of the desk on a dolly and me losing my balance. The last mattress (cal king) got in the house with a big groan from both of us. I guess from relief and exhaustion.

14:00 Saturday we went back to the bay area to do the final cleaning and touch up on the house. We stopped for late lunch at his favorite restaurant Black Bear Diner at a brand new franchise in Vacaville. The service was a little slow and it is very apparent that the personnel are in training. As soon as we get to the house we had a plan I will do the touch ups inside the house and hubby to take care of the steps of the stairs. It was 22:00 when we are all done. “ Last time” at the house. We are so exhausted that after passing Davis I took over the wheel. Got home at 24:30 and hubby parked the unloaded pick up at the drive way with head back.

Sunday after waking up we discovered that my SUV have been stolen. It was still there when we got home at 12:30. The SUV was parked at the driveway between the Tundra and the Land cruizer. Hubby also discovered that his wallet is gone. Police was called right away and while I was operating the telephone, he called the creditors. With the law enforcement’s suggestion, we drove around the surrounding streets and parking lots but there was no sight of the car.

Day for my Sister

Today is a day spent with the family. Today my sister went through the knife. I know I would not be able to make it very early. The traffic getting out of Sacramento was awful. Deja vu of the bay area. I-50 west bound and I-99 southbound was bumper to bumper. It only eased up after the downtown Sacramento exits. I cannot believe how some people insist on driving on the fast lane if they are driving below the speed limit and driving along side the guy on the second lane.

Stopped at Mom and Dad's house to pick my other sister and Mom. We waited at the waiting room with my brother-in- law and they finally put her in her room approximately 13:00 and we were able to be with her at the room. She is a trooper and I know she will get over this. Left the Hosp and we went out to a late lunch. Pho. Stopped at Costco so Mom gets her supplies.

Left Stockton @ 18:00 and got to Alameda a little after 19:00. As I got to the house there is this feeling of sadness that came about me. The house is dark, leaves and litter was all over the driveway, and my plants are wilted. A few more days and we will be leaving the house for good. I feel really sad. I watered the wilted plants at the backyard and watered the plants at the deck. Picked hanging clothes from the closet and loaded the car with other stuff. Left Alameda @ about 20:21.

House on the Foothills

Labor day weekend, Monte just got back from Louisiana for a two weeks stint with the BP Oil spill at the gulf of Mexico. He was sent by Dept of Interior to work on the environmental impact of the spill. He was bored. The paperwork on the sale of the house on the bay on it's final stages. Saturday we decided to load the truck with my plants and cut our weekend at the bay to one. Sunday we decided to do one of the things that we love to do. We drove up to the foothills and look at properties. It has been a long time dream of my hubby to own a property at the foothills where he could spend his weekend in peace. "Apple Hill"
The second house we looked at is in a gated community called "Rancho Del Sol". There is an arched gate that looked like a Spanish fixture. (see pictures). I guess it is appropriate with the name. Hubby said he used to pass by it on his way to work every day for 8 years and they used to call it "Taco Bell". We cannot get in so we stalled outside the gate till someone came out and we got in.
Our GPS was not working right, there was a confusion on the city but we figured it out. Found the house and we right away liked it. 3.75 acres, 4/4.5, 3903 sq feet, pool, hot tub, circular driveway, view, 3 car garage, in-laws quarters, among other things. The back side where the view have 3 stories of deck but the lowest story is in really bad shape. Needs lots of work. We looked at more properties newer, no work - move in ready, new house but did not have what the fixer have.

The sign by the gate
Taco Bell?
