Job Hunt

I actually have not been bored yet after the closing of the company. I have been very busy packing, painting the Alameda house and going back and forth between houses. I just feel glad that I am not working and doing the same. I actually have not thought about NUMMI or miss the job. The only thing I actually miss is the check going to my bank account and a handfull of people besides that I don't really care.

I have not been really looking for a job. Just send my resume when I think it is a good one, something I really wanted to do. This time I wanted a job where I actually dress up. I do not want a job where I have to dress like a dude. Tennis shoes, T-shirt, and capris. Now I do not know what will I do with my collection of tennis shoes.

I guess you could say that today is a good day. I send my resume before lunch and 2 hours later I got a phone call and an e/mail. Well I was not carrying my cell phone all the time so I missed it. I called and I had a brief phone interview. There is an interview set for Monday, April 26, 2010 @ 10:30 in Rancho Cordova, a city next to our house in Sac.

I also made phone calls asking for permissions to be my references. Called my Manager who now lives in Bedford, Massachusetts and it was nice conversing with him. He is my first manager way back in the 80's and became a family friend. It was really nice hearing his voice again. Also called one of my favorite Managers on my first job in the bay area also way back on the early 90's. We will be meeting for lunch couple of days from now. Called also one of the ladies where I used to work. I did not want to make this phone call but I guess it is a must because they are really interested on the the training I did on this company.

I wanted this job and I hope I will get it.

Stockton Trip

Yesterday I left for Stockton first to go get my transcript from San Joaquin Delta College and second to visit my parents. Well, when I left our house in Sac it was sunny and nice. Once I got to the freeway I-99 southbound it started to rain very hard. I can hardly see the lane dividers. I just merged left to the fast lane next to the commuter lane when a black pick up spun on the 4th lane and hit another white pick up in the middle lane that also spun. There are 5 lanes because of the freeway merging together. The traffic coming was fast so they also hit the trucks. I saw them hit the trucks on my rear view mirror. I was shaken because of what I witnessed and I was just few feet away but was very glad I was not part of it. I guess my guardian angel was in the car with me and I thank the Lord for that. I called my hubby right away and told him of the incident and told me to get off the freeway and relax before I get back on. I was fine so I kept on going.

I got to SJDC a little after 4:00pm. Purchased me a parking permit and headed to the administration bldg. It seemed so different. It has been 20 years ago that I was in the campus. I was not sure where to get the transcript so I asked. They said it is on the new building right on Pacific Avenue but they are now closed. I looked on-line before I left Sac and they are suppose to be open till 6:00 but I guess I was mistaken.

Left and headed to Mom & Dad's house. My brother Richard was there fixing my mom's washer. He is pretty handy and he got the washer to work. We`discussed what his plans are and he is thinking of becoming an electrician. I suggested becoming a plumber because a month ago I called a plumber to change the control of the new bathroom and he charged me $180.00. He was at the house less than 30 minutes. It was late so Mom, Dad, Richard, Rosalie, and I went out to dinner. Chinese buffet by the mall. Man I stuffed my face big time. I regretted it later. Left Stockton @ 8:30pm and got home in Alameda an hour later.

2010 Spring Soccer

April 17 is officially the start of Spring soccer, so now it is going to be soccer once again every week end. First game is at the College of Alameda soccer field. It was a nice day sunny but a little breezy. The field is not that far from the bay. There were few parents watching the game. I believe that since the girls are under 19 most of them are driving and they do not need their parents to drive them around. We were running late and the game already started when we got there. The Adrenaline are short with players only 7 girls showed up and two will be late. To make it worst one of girls also hurt and to the sideline. The opposing team have all their players with a lot of subs. There is suppose to be 10 players in the field and there's only six. The Adrenaline scored 2 on the first half.

Before the second half Hannah and Q arrived and the game changed. The Adrenaline are still 2 player short. They scored another 3 on the second half making the final score 5 to zero. That was not a match.

I love Spring

Today is a very nice and warm day. Just perfect not too cold or hot. I spent most my day on the yard. Started off with a trip to Home Depot. It is a perfect day to plant some flowers. They do not have the plants I wanted although they have a lot of selection. I spent about $52.00 on this trip and still do not have enough. I went to the Encinal Nursery yesterday and spent money there too. They have the plants I like but they seem to run quite expensive.

The maple trees on the front yard are doing well. The light green one is so beautiful.

The roses are blooming too.

The wisteria wrapped around the basketball Court is in full bloom. It was even more beautiful a week ago but, most of the flowers fell off when we have the storm all week.

2010 Masters Golf Tournament

Yes, I am watching the game. This day 13 years ago (1997) was the first time Tiger Woods won the Green Jacket. First time I watched the tournament, I was so impressed, he is young and really darn good. Been hooked since, and became a Tiger Woods Fan.

There is also a significance of this day to my life and my past. Yes 13 years ago I was home (San Jose, CA) on a Sunday ironing and trying to sort out what was going on in my life and relationship. Trying to figure out what do. I need to either stay or move on. There were things that outweighed others and seems not to be in favor of what my heart says and what my mind is telling me. It was a very tough decision but, right now just reminiscing the events, I know I made the right decision and what was I thinking then? I was a "fool", and I could leave it at that.

Easter Sunday

Easter..One of the holidays that I spend with my family. Drove to Mom and Dad's house. Hubby decided not to go with me. He wants to do as much as he can on his project. he is tiling the laundry room on the Alameda home. Before I left I helped him load the truck with all the boxes that I have packed ready to go. A heavy storm is suppose to be heading to the bay area so we made sure that in case it will rain on his way to Sacramento the boxes will be safe.

Got to Mom's before 2:00pm and stopped @ China Palace to pickup shrimp that my sister ordered for me. One of my sisters was already getting the pancit's ingredients for me to cook and they left to the bay area after 3:00pm. My brother-in-law is scheduled to work. Food lots of it as usual . Can't help stuffing my face.

Everybody was there. My youngest nephew is now four so my sister-in-law decided not to have an egg hunt and besides it is raining. They decided to bake cookies, make the dough, and decorate them instead. It was nice to see all of them taking turns on rolling the dough and flour all over the place including their faces. They were very creative. One made a tree, a finger, a bunny, flower, etc. I get to eat the tree.

They also brought a bag of balloons. I helped them blow. It was funny how my youngest nephew was amused on why the balloons sticks to his head like horns when I rubbed it to his hair. He was screaming "Mommy Mommy look"and run to see his image on the mirror. He was hilarious. I asked my mom where she keeps the old pictures she brought out old albums when we were young. Asked our nephews and nieces who is in the picture and they said "me"! it's their dad's baby picture. We had few laughs.

I was not being mean but, I asked my nephew to play with his wii he is watching something on one of the TVs. I wanted to watch the NCAA Women's basketball final four games. Oklahoma vs Stanford and UConn vs Baylor. As predicted the teams to play for the Championship is Stanford vs UConn. Rallying for the Cardinal.... Go Stanford!

Left @ 9:00pm. The drive from Stockton to Sacramento was scarry. It was raining hard all the way and you can't see the line separators on the freeway. It took me longer than usual but I made it safe.

"April Fool's Day"

I got laid off today! April fools day frank! No it is not. In many ways I think the closing of the company did me a big favor. It is pushing me to move my butt to where my husband works. I should have moved to Sac already. Finishing school was the only thing holding me in the bay area.

Our group is one of the last ones to be processed out. Some of our colleagues were let go last night. I got home early but wasn't able to sleep right away. The clock was ticking, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 - I finally went to bed but was wide awake. The house wad cold but I felt too hot. I am hacking away too, still sick. I got up and took Tylenol PM but did not help 5:00, 6:00 then I finally fell asleep. I woke up on the morning with a headache.

Left for work @ about 3:33pm. Leaving Alameda and crossing the bridge was faster than usual. The meter on the freeway was on but I got on it right away. Half a mile on it comes the traffic. I-880 southbound was bumper to bumper. My favorite radio station announced that there are two accidents ahead. I thought about getting off the freeway and take side streets but did not helped me in the past. I was going 4mph. I was even able to take a picture of the ORACLE arena. This is going to be the last time that I will do this route.

I keep looking at the clock and it is already 4:35pm, damn I am really late. Not really thinking right. I was going really fast maybe 45mph on NUMMI frontage road (speed limit is 25mph) and not stopping on the 3 stop signs to the front gate and I looked at my rear view mirror and I said "&*%@" Cop. I turned into the parking lot, parked and they have the light on. Oh man, how am I going to get out of this. They got me. Well, one of the officers asked me all kinds of questions being really authoritative, me of course was trying to save myself with all kinds of excuses. The officer asked me out of the car towards the police car and asked me how long have I worked there. I started crying and told him "Do you realize what is going on in my mind right now? I am late on my funeral" Man my licence could be suspended with 4 violations. Then he said I am not going to write you a ticket but bla bla bla..... Hallelujah!
Rushed to the entrance, to the Team Room, my desk, AM's office - empty. They are gone. I walked myself to the processing area. All of the Mgrs, Group Leaders, dignitaries, was there lined up. gave them hugs and best wishes. It took 5 minutes all together and I am out. It was much faster than I thought and the process was really well thought out. Thank God most of the QAT TMs are outside waiting. Well, I am officially unemployed along with 4, 700 others and our suppliers.
